Umbra Turris is a fantasy miniatures game, where the player commands a team of 6 to 16 heroes. Goal of the game is to get two Triumph Points (which are obtained by fulfilling tasks from Scenario Cards) or simply defeating the enemy in battle.
As player creates a team, one of five characters is chosen: the forces of good, lawful, neutral, anarchists or evil. Selected character decides what race, profession and magic will be available to the player heroes. And there is plenty to choose from - there are 24 races and 54 professions. This gives a very RPGs feel and a lot of pleasure in finding all kinds of interesting connections between them.
The game is divided on Cycles. In each Cycle, the players alternately activate one model of their heroes at a time. Each hero has a Action Dice, which allows them to make one Primary and one Secondary action. Primary Actions are: moving, charging, fighting, shooting and casting spells. The game is based on a six-sided dice and offers some interesting solutions for fighting, shooting and magic. I'll write about it in the following entries.
Playing time, at the lowest point scale (750 Silver Ducats) takes a little over an hour. Considering the low models cost, free rules and using small number of models and terrain, Umbra Turris can be recommend to players who want to get started with wargaming, as well as to experienced players, as the system for a quick and enjoyable play.
As I have said earlier - that is not official translation of in game terms, so when the rules comes out names could be different. But I think that gives a little view on the game for all the curious. Also some feedback about my writing skills would be nice, as English is not my native language :)
